Pedestrian dies in Dargaville crash

A pedestrian has died in a late-night crash in Dargaville, Northland.
Police said emergency services responded to the crash between a car and pedestrian at the intersection of Murdoch Street and Colville Road just after 1.15am.
The male pedestrian died at the scene.
Murdoch Street was currently closed between Colville Road and Dargaville Rugby Park.
"We would like to thank the members of the public who stopped to help before emergency services arrived," police said in a statement.
"We’d like to hear from anyone we haven’t yet spoken to who may have witnessed the crash, or who has dashcam footage of the incident."
Meanwhile, a person was critically injured in another crash involving a car and pedestrian on Chapel Road in Auckland's East Tāmaki early this morning.
The crash was reported around 6.39am.
One person suffered critical injuries and Chapel Street was closed between Smales Road and Carlingford Drive.
Police asked motorists to avoid the area and to expect delays. The serious crash unit would investigate.
