Roofs lifted after 'mini tornado' tears through Richmond

Two houses have been damaged after a miniature tornado tore through Richmond, south of Nelson, today.
Photos of two properties with their roofs lifted were posted to social media by the Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade this evening.
"Two dwellings suffered damage from a mini tornado that came through Richmond today," the fire brigade said.
"Thankfully no one was hurt and we were able to secure the roof for the occupants.
"Stay safe out there in the wild weather."

One Facebook user said the tornado "whizzed past us in Fauchelle", adding that the wind was "very strong".
Another said their garage had its cladding "torn off" and fencing was "taken out".
"The noise was horrendous."
