'You've got the whole lot!': Huntly man's surprise Lotto win

The Lotto winner didn't know how much he had won until he checked the news.

A man from Huntly was the lucky Lotto player who took home all four $250,000 prizes last Wednesday — though he didn’t know it at the time.

The man initially thought there were separate winners, which made him feel unsure as to how much money he had won.

It wasn’t until the results hit the media when he realised there may have only been one winning ticket —his.

"I read an article where Lotto said it was likely there was one winner with four lines on one ticket – and that's when it clicked that it was probably me," he said.

He went to a local store to double check his ticket, where he received the exciting news.

"The man behind the counter just looked at my ticket and said, 'you’ve got the whole lot!'"

He said he was excited, but tried to play it cool.

The Huntly man and the shop clerk weren't the only ones shocked at his fortune, as his partner was also in disbelief.

"I showed her the paperwork, but she initially didn’t read all the zeros and thought it was $1000," he laughed.

As for what to spend it on, he said he was going to use it to take care of his family, keeping what was left for himself.
