Northbound lanes on Wellington's Transmission Gully reopen after fire

A vehicle fire closed northbound lanes on State Highway 1 through Wellington's Transmission Gully for two hours this morning.

Emergency services were called to the blaze near Wainui Saddle, just before Paekakariki, at around 8.20am.

Fire and Emergency NZ sent crews from Porirua and Paraparaumu, with police saying no injuries had been reported.

NZTA said the road had reopened as of 10.40am.
