Oscars 2025: Full list of nominees revealed, Emilia Perez leads pack with 13

Awards season is officially here – and after the Golden Globes kicked things off earlier this month, all eyes are now on the Oscars race.
After being postponed twice due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, the full list of nominees was finally announced on Thursday, US time, in a live presentation hosted by actors and Saturday Night Live stars Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang and broadcast from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theatre.
The 2025 Oscars ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien and held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, will be broadcast locally on Monday, March 3.
Heading into the unveiling of nominations, one thing seemed clear: there were no obvious frontrunners.
The list of nominees was therefore absolutely primed to throw up some surprises – and it sure has delivered.
Controversial musical thriller Emilia Pérez leads the pack with a whopping 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Karla Sofía Gascón and Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldana.

With 10 nods apiece is architectural epic The Brutalist and smash-hit musical adaptation Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu.
Vatican drama Conclave, starring Ralph Fiennes, and Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown with Timothée Chalamet tied in third spot with eight apiece, while Anora collected six nominations.

Australian animated film Memoir of a Snail, which features Succession’s Sarah Snook, is up for a gong.
Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman has suffered a snub after she failed to get a nomination for her role in racy movie Babygirl. It was thought the Australian actress was a shoo-in for an awards nod.

But it’s looking increasingly like Demi Moore’s comeback could be on with a nomination for Best Actress after her Golden Globes win for the visual shock-fest The Substance. Wicked’s Ariana Grande also scored a first-time nomination in the Actress in a Supporting Role category for her role as Glinda.

Apart from Kidman, other notable omissions included rumoured Best Actor candidate Daniel Craig for his work in Queer, Angelina Jolie for her role in Maria, as well as Conclave filmmaker Edward Berger from the Best Director category.
