Four arrested after police chase across Auckland following alleged home invasion
A major police chase was sparked after a group allegedly fled the scene of a home invasion armed with a machete.
The chase across Auckland involving a stolen white Ford Ranger began at 3.10pm at an address on Bleakhouse Rd, Howick.
On multiple occasions, the vehicle was seen driving on the wrong side of the road at high speeds, Counties Manukau District Commander, Superintendent Shanan Gray said.
During the dash across Auckland, the vehicle was involved in several collisions with other vehicles belonging to members of the public.
Police vehicles were rammed on more than one occasion.
“Given the risk posed, the Armed Offenders Squad [AOS] was deployed and pursued the vehicle on Queen St,” Gray said.

He said the police deployed a range of tactics, including the use of a distraction device, a non-lethal sponge round and a police dog.
The vehicle was stopped when the AOS carried out a non-compliant vehicle stop on Karangahape Rd.
A man with blood on his face was seen being handcuffed and placed into the back of a police car. He was one of four people taken into custody.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one ambulance, one rapid response unit, and one operations manager attended a motor vehicle incident on Karangahape Rd/Hereford St.
One patient was transported to hospital in a moderate condition after they were bitten by a dog.
Three additional patients, all in minor condition, were assessed at the scene.
Earlier, a witness told the Herald that cars with lights and sirens on were spotted speeding north, past Sylvia Park, just before 4pm.
The Herald understands the cars were headed towards downtown Auckland.

A reporter on the scene in central Auckland said a helicopter was hovering above the Victoria Park area.
Another witness said there was a figure “protruding” out of a vehicle.
Police were also seen around the Auckland University of Technology and outside a car dealership on Karangahape Rd.
A Herald photographer said it appeared a police officer was laying spikes at the entrance to the top of Hobson St at the entrances to the Southern and Northwestern Motorways.
