One person has died after a crash on private property in rural Waikato.

Police said they were alerted to the single-vehicle crash at a private address on Waipa Heights Rd, Ngāruawāhia, around 10.50am yesterday.

The driver was the sole occupant and was found dead, police said.

“The Serious Crash Unit was advised and inquiries ... are ongoing.”

Hato Hone St John sent an ambulance, a rapid response unit, and an operations manager, a spokesperson said, but did not transport anyone from the property.

The death has been referred to the coroner, police said.

Ngāruawāhia is about 20km northwest of Hamilton.
