The All Blacks have had an up-and-down start under new coach Scott Robertson through the home tests and the Rugby Championship. Now he faces his first Northern Tour with three massive challenges facing England, Ireland and France in consecutive weeks.

After two tight victories to start his stint as head coach over England, the All Blacks made it 3-0 start to the season with a big win over Fiji in the US. But Robertson suffered his first defeat when the All Blacks were outplayed in the final quarter going down to the Pumas in Wellington. They bounced back a week later at Eden Park before losing back-to-back tests in South Africa as the Springboks went onto claim the Rugby Championship title.

Robertson did at least retain some silverware as the All Blacks kept hold of the Bledisloe Cup with victory in Sydney before a much-improved performance in Wellington to finish off the Rugby Championship in second place.

They kick off the Northern Tour with a test against Japan before the final three tests of 2024.
