How to contact Stuff's newsrooms and editors to share your story tips, feedback, pitches or complaints
Friday, 17 November 2023
Public feedback is important to Stuff. We believe that, as a news organisation, we have an obligation to engage constructively with our audience and the wider public, and that we have much to gain from doing so. We are committed to engaging with our audience and taking action based on your story tips, suggestions, complaints and other feedback. You may help us develop a story or a plan of coverage, answer questions, identify areas that need coverage, or offer fresh perspectives.
In the communities we cover, our audience members are frontline witnesses to life, and your insights can help shape our news agenda.
Critical feedback and complaints
We are committed to transparency about our journalism, as outlined in our Editorial Code of Practice and Ethics.
Complaints or correction requests should be made in writing to the relevant editor. Complainants should specify alleged errors with due particularity. Below you can find contact details for key editors and newsrooms.
We rarely remove historical content from the website unless there are exceptional circumstances, such as an order from a judge. Occasionally, editors may make a decision to change or remove particular content from Stuff. If you want to make a case for having a story removed, follow the instructions here.
You can also email us with complaints to newstips@stuffdigital.co.nz
Publishing comments and submissions from our audience
We invite reader feedback through comments on selected stories. While many media companies in Aotearoa and internationally have shut down their comment sections, at Stuff we believe the comment section is a key place for democratising the news. For 160 years our newspapers have had a letters to the editor page so readers can tell us what they think about what we report, and how we report it. The comment section offers a similar opportunity for Stuff members. Comments on Stuff are moderated, meaning each comment is reviewed by an editor and either approved or rejected. For reasons including staff resourcing, media law, and our intention to maintain civility in our comments, we do not enable comments on all stories. The full rules of engagement for commenting on Stuff are outlined in our terms and conditions.
If you want to share an op-ed, you can contact Editor-in-Chief keith.lynch@stuffdigital.co.nz. But please note Stuff rarely publishes op-eds outside our core group of contributors.
