Man in critical condition after near-drowning at Goat Island

A man is in critical condition after a reported drowning in north Auckland.

Police said emergency services were called to Goat Island, a popular marine reserve and swimming spot, about 3.50pm on Monday.

'A man is in a critical condition,' police said. 

'Police, fire and ambulance are in attendance.'

Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust was on the scene, a spokesman said.
