One critical and two others injured after crash in Kaipara Flats, Auckland

One person is fighting for their life after being rescued from a car which crashed in the early hours.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Woodcocks Rd, which leads out to State Highway 1, at 3.30am in Kaipara Flats, north Auckland. 

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said crews were called to an incident where a car had crashed off the road.

One 'critically injured' person had been trapped and crews used gear to free the person, the spokesman said.

St John said five vehicles were sent to the scene.

One person was critically injured and two others had moderate injuries, St John said.

The three patients were taken to Auckland Hospital, St John said.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified. 

Police are urging motorists to drive with care due to heavy rain warnings in the area.
