Thursday, 31 October 2019

Trick-or-treaters wait patiently outside a house in Alexander Ave in Torbay, a popular Halloween destination.

A popular trick or treating street had to ration lollies to one per person as residents struggled to cope with the Halloween demand.

'One lolly per person, two if your face is painted,' one young girl was heard saying.

Elaborate costumes were donned by kids and adults alike.

From around 5pm, thousands of face-painted and costumed families swarmed to North Shore's Alexander Ave in Torbay.

It has become a annual tradition for families of Alexander Ave to open their doors to revellers, but the scale and popularity has continued to grow.

Residents of the street rallied to share supplies between houses to cope tonight after 2500 visitors last year left homes empty-handed by the end of the night.

One woman had reportedly provided 100 boxes of treats in preparation for what was to come.

However, the limited supply of lollies did little to quell the excitement buzzing through the street.

Costumes ranged from the traditional zombies and ghouls to a Trump-It Clown hybrid.
