School bus and truck collide in Mt Maunganui, five people injured

Five people, including one in a serious condition, are injured after a bus carrying school children collided with a truck in Mount Maunganui.

The crash happened at 8am on State Highway 2, a major arterial route between the Mount and Tauranga.

St John sent four ambulances and three rapid response vehicles to the scene, and transported five patients to Tauranga Hospital by ambulances.

One patient was in a serious condition, two were moderately injured, and another two were in a minor condition.

The road was blocked while the scene was cleared and motorists were advised to expect delays.
