Sky Sport partners with golf event New Zealand Open

Sky Sport has announced a partnership with golf tournament New Zealand Open just days after partnering with NZ Rugby.

Sky Sport has been the broadcast partner for the NZ Open for eight years.

New Zealand Open Tournament chairman John Hart said he was 'delighted' to have Sky's support.

'Sky have been there from the start of our involvement with the event, and to now see them grow their part in the tournament is both reassuring and gratifying,' Hart said.

'This commitment from Sky allows us to continue planning for a positive long-term future for the tournament, as we strive to become one of the world's pre-eminent pro-am event,' he said.

Sky chief executive Martin Stewart said the NZ Open had become a staple in the New Zealand sporting calendar.

'Sky has been broadcasting this special event for a number of years. It's been fantastic to see how this tournament has grown into one of the leading events in the country in that time,' Stewart said.

On Monday Sky Sport walked away with the rights to show Super Rugby and All Blacks matches until 2025, after Spark was unable to make a competing bid.

NZ Rugby will take a 5 per cent stake in Sky as part of its renewed arrangement with the broadcaster.
