About 100 employees at New Zealand Post will be affected in an ongoing cost-cutting proposal.
In September its manager and specialist functions team were told they could give expressions of interest for voluntary redundancies and a for a four-day working week with a pay cut as the mail provider reviewed the structure and size of the team.
Stuff understands NZ Post was aiming to achieve a $35 to $40 million reduction in cost this financial year.
NZ Post chief executive said following the review of its structure and considering expressions of interest, NZ Post today entered into formal consultation with its managers and specialists on a change proposal that will impact primarily its corporate support functions.
“If implemented, these changes will impact around 100 roles,” he said.
Walsh could not say how many people opted to take voluntary redundancy or the four-day work week.
“It is important that we allow our people the opportunity to engage fully in the consultation process. Any changes following this process would be communicated to our people in the first instance, and supporting them is our main priority.”
