TVNZ proposes cutting 50 roles, staff to find out more about the fate of their jobs

TVNZ is proposing to cut 50 jobs from its around 600 staff in an effort to save the state broadcaster $30 million.
An email sent by chief executive Jodi O’Donnell to TVNZ staff obtained by Stuff, said they’re proposing to disestablish 90.5 roles and establish 41, with a net loss of 49.5 roles.
The proposals also include role reductions, reporting line changes and job title changes.
O’Donnell said in the email that no decisions will be made without feedback from staff.
Stuff understands anyone impacted by the changes were invited to a meeting on Thursday.
Meeting invites were sent out to those affected on Wednesday.
It is believed most people received an email because of the way roles will be changing.
A spokeswoman for TVNZ said last week the company had decided on strategic changes it will make to the business to reach its $30m target and deliver on its Digital+ strategy.
It including creating a new creative hub and, centres for excellence for data, analytics and AI, bringing news and content together into a new division, investing in TVNZ+ and having a reduced 1news website.
