New provider takes over from Personalised Plates
Monday, 1 August 2016
Personalised Plates has lost the contract to provide New Zealand motorists with number plates, after almost 30 years.
From today, Australian firm Publicis Communication has taken over.
'We have been privileged to have this opportunity for the past 28 years but now it's someone else's turn,' a notice on Personalised Plates' website says.

Standard plates start at $599 but other designs are more expensive, including the European-style option, at $750. Personalised Plates had been selling them for $849.
The New Zealand Transport Agency put the contract out to tender last year, saying it wanted to find a supplier to deliver a 'fresh view of the personalised plates market in order to improve customer access and choice and to improve the level of revenue returned to the Transport Agency's road safety programme'.
Anyone who has a current layby with Personalised Plates can continue to pay it off. The company said its layby team would be in touch with customers over the coming weeks.
It directed all other inquiries to the NZTA.
NZTA has been approached for comment.
