Shoppers at some North Island Pak 'n Save and New World stores on Monday found themselves getting last week's specials at a discount and this week's at full price.

'Early this morning we discovered that our promotional pricing schedule for the week had failed to load in some of our Foodstuffs North Island stores, Doug Cochrane, Foodstuffs North Island general manager retail, said.

Only some New World and Pak 'n Save supermarkets were affected by the glitch.

Cochrane said it meant some customers may have been charged the incorrect price for goods. On the other hand they were still getting last week's bonus promotional deals.

'Since then we've been working as hard as we can to get this resolved and we're just about there,' he said on Monday.

Cochrane said it was not known how many people were affected by the issue.

'We apologise wholeheartedly for this situation and any inconvenience and we're totally happy to do the right thing by our customers.

'Customers who have a concern can simply come to the service desk in store and they will be refunded any difference,' he said.

Cochrane said next Monday they would offer a 'make-good' to customers but were still working through the details of what that would be.

New Plymouth New World owner Rob Dowman said the glitch caused some delays at the supermarket while checkout operators manually keyed in prices.

'There haven't been any lengthy waits but we have been holding people up,' Dowman said.
