Group action against Southern Response gets go ahead

A class action against Canterbury earthquake insurer Southern Response will proceed.
In February 2016, the High Court denied the group's first application for a class action against the Government-owned insurer because it contained several 'deficiencies'.

However, the group applied again and was given the go-ahead by the High Court in November 2016.
Southern Response launched an appeal to overturn the decision and stop the class action.
But a Court of Appeal judgment released on Monday ruled that in the High Court Justice David Gendall was right to grant leave for a representative action.
