Aotearoa Music Awards returns after two years, finalists announced
Thursday, 18 April 2024
For the first time in two years, the Aotearoa Music Awards has returned with their list of finalists in the running to scoop up awards on May 30.
Those nominated for gongs include Stan Walker, The Beths, Marlon Williams, Kaylee Bell, Home Brew and more.
Additional awards to be presented include Highest Selling Artist and Radio Airplay Record of the Year.
AMA’s award categories have mostly remained the same, with some te reo Māori translations changed for titles.
Best Group has changed from Te Roopu Toa to Te Tino Kāhui Manu Taki o te Tau, with kāhui refering to a flock of birds and manu taki being the leaders of the flock.
Best Album Artwork has been translated to Te Taumata o te Toi, or “the pinnacle of art”, while Radio Airplay Record of the Year emerged from the transliteration Te Taumata o te Horapa, or “the pinnacle of reach”.
