Auckland's summer festivals: Splore, Laneway, Hidden Valley and more

There is something for everyone at a range of music festivals this summer – and you don't even need to leave the City of sails.
The first of the festivals kick off in late December and the partying doesn't end until February, 2020.

SPLORE
Splore is a three-day music and arts festival at Tapapakanga Regional Park in south Auckland from February 21-23.
Attendees are invited to dress up for the celebration and camping is available.
Performers include The Parov Stelar Band, Fly My Pretties and Jess B.
The festival is held on ancestral land and there is a big focus on keeping campsites clean.
LANEWAY
St Jerome's Laneway Festival will be held on January 27 at Albert Park in central Auckland with gates opening at 11.30am.
The R18 festival will feature artists such as The 1975, Charli XCX and Benee.
Festival organisers suggest people bring ID, sun protection, a hat, cash, and 'good vibes'.
AUCKLAND FOLK FESTIVAL
The 47th annual Auckland Folk Festival will take place from January 24-27 at the Kumeu Showgrounds in northwest Auckland.
About 3000 campers and visitors are expected over the weekend to enjoy music, dance and more than 50 performers from all over the world.
Double Grammy award winner and American country and bluegrass musician Tim O'Brien will headline the festival.
Workshops and singalongs are also available.
SONOROUS FESTIVAL
Head north for the third annual 'interstellar sonic grooves' festival, held on Auckland Anniversary weekend.
Sonorous Festival will take place at Matakana Country Park in Matakana on January 26 from midday.
Festival organisers say it has become a 'fixture' in house and techno lovers' calendars in recent years.
HIDDEN VALLEY FESTIVAL
Hidden Valley Festival will be held at Matakana Country Park in Matakana just after Christmas on December 27.
The line-up includes UK musician Wilkinson and Kiwi duo Sachi.
RAGGAZILLA
Raggazilla is Auckland's 'newest multi genre music festival'.
It will be held from December 20-21 at Auckland Netball Centre in St Johns.
Kiwi and Pacific artists will be featured.
SHIPWRECKED FESTIVAL
Shipwrecked Festival has taken inspiration from the international festival scene and combined it with 'uniquely Kiwi vibes'.
It will take place from February 7-9 in Te Arai, north of Auckland.
As well as enjoying the music of the festival, attendees are able to swim in the fresh water lake on site between 8am-8pm.
SUNSETTER FESTIVAL
The Sunsetter Food, Wine and Musical Festival returns to Smales Farm on February 15.
Previously known as The Takapuna Food, Wine and Music Festival, organisers say it has been renamed to 'reflect the enhanced experience and vibe that we aim to bring every summer'.
FRANKLIN SUMMER FESTIVAL
Franklin Summer Festival is expected to be the 'biggest party in town' and will take place on February 29 at the Pukekohe Showgrounds in south Auckland.
Musicians expected to take the stage include The Dave Alley Band and The Rvmes.
Gates open at 1pm with music beginning from 2pm.
AUM NEW YEARS EVE FESTIVAL
The three-day family-friendly event to kick off the New Year will take place on a farm north of Auckland from December 30 to Jan 2.
AUM New Years Eve Festival will feature a number of musicians including Fleetmac Wood, Unchained XL, Flying Mojito Bros and Marlins Dreaming.
Ear protection is recommended for young ones and organisers say there is no babysitting available on site.
