Watch: iPhone ‘chewed’ by tiger shark films everything

Friday, 22 November 2024

A phone that was “chewed” by a tiger shark in the Bahamas was filming everything.

The incident occurred earlier this month when an iPhone was accidentally dropped in the water while tourists watched a feeding session from a boat, Yahoo reported.

The video showed the shark’s jaws clamping down on the device before it moved through the inside of the predator’s mouth.

The phone belonged to Dolphin Dream Team excursion captain Dave Finch, according to Yahoo.

Ken Kiefer, 55, an underwater photographer working with Finch on the tour, posted about the incident on Facebook.

“This devious girl – known by some as Jitterbug and by others as Buttface – grabbed Finch’s camera and was trying to get some selfies,” he wrote.

The phone was sealed in a waterproof case and was later retrieved after the shark spat it out.

“She grabbed it. Then chewed, dropped, grabbed again and dropped,” Kiefer said.

Tiger sharks are the second largest predatory shark species after the great white.

An earlier version of this story said the iPhone had been “eaten” and “swallowed” by the shark. Instead, the phone stayed inside the sharks mouth and was spat back out. (Amended 12.40pm on November 25, 2024).
