Karangahape Road wine bar Bar Celeste has announced they are closing after nearly six years.
The wine bar was opened in 2019 by Emma Ogilvie and Nick Landsman.
The closure is just the latest to hit Auckland's hospitality scene in 2025, following a challenging year in 2024.
Another week and another closure in Auckland hospitality.
Popular Karangahape Rd wine bar Bar Celeste has announced it’s closing the doors in June after nearly six years of serving customers on the famous strip.
The wine bar was opened in 2019 by Emma Ogilvie and Nick Landsman, who previously ran pop-up French eatery La Pêche.
The bar occupied the spot previously held by Revel Cafe for over 10 years.
Pitched as “neo-bistro”, Bar Celeste became known for its French-inflected sharing plates and extensive wine list.
Announcing the closure, Ogilvie and Landsman thanked everyone who dined with them over the years.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who has dined with us, supported us, and helped make this little spot on K Road feel like home.
“To our amazing team - past and present - thank you for the energy, passion, and hard work you’ve poured into the bar,” they said.
The pair said they were now looking forward to carrying on what they had built at Bar Celeste into “future projects”.
The closure is just the latest to hit Auckland's hospitality scene in 2025, following a challenging year in 2024.
Earlier this month, Little & Friday owner Kim Evans announced she had closed her last cafe in the popular chain, while in April, Ponsonby Bistro revealed they were closing after 18 years.
In 2024, two other popular Karangahape Rd bars closed their doors for good, with Madame George and the Wine Cellar saying goodbye.
Bar Celeste’s last day of service will be June 14.
