How to listen to Superfad, Stuff's new podcast
Thursday, 8 March 2018
After delivering the most successful New Zealand podcast to date, Stuff presents its next major series in the audio format.
In Superfad, two of our millennial reporters dive into the trends that surge and often just as quickly retreat from the nation's consciousness. Laura Walters and Katie Kenny have spent a week in a waist trainer, crammed into a tiny house and vegged out on the couch for hours of binge watching to deliver the podcast.
They're joined each week by well-known New Zealanders and opinionated experts to help explain the fads, including some of the problems that come along with them.
A new episode of Superfad is added every Friday for seven weeks. Superfad is sponsored by Skoda.
WHY SUPERFAD?
Yes, this is a podcast about something other than true crime or politics. (Plenty of time for more of that later).
But we thought you'd like a podcast that's both laugh out loud funny and makes you smarter.
Each episode clearly explains a fad (think: cryptocurrency, DNA mapping, that sort of thing), gives a lively take on it and examines the problems with it.
Things like waist-trainers or TV binge-watching might appear, on their face, a bit of fun. And they can be. But there is more to say about how such trends change our relationships, how our children grow up and what we value as a society.
The Superfad hosts, Laura Walters and Katie Kenny try out the fads, discuss them with well-known names like Colin Mathura-Jefree and Kate Rodger and debate some of the issues raised.
WHAT'S A PODCAST ANYWAY?
Podcasts are audio features you listen to on a digital device. You need a phone, a tablet or any computer to listen.
Podcast devotees typically listen on their phone with headphones plugged in. You can plug in, hit play then slip your phone in your pocket and enjoy.
Once you find a podcast you're keen on, you can listen to it whenever you like.
You can download a single episode or an entire series. You can subscribe to get every update. You can pause, save and share.
You do need an internet connection to find a podcast. But once downloaded, podcasts can be listened to offline.
Superfad is a seven-part podcast series, brought to you by Skoda. A new episode is released every Friday on iTunes and Stitcher. Join the Superfad group on Facebook and look out for behind-the-scenes extras in a weekly Facebook Live discussion every Monday.
