Lotto draw as odd as you can get as 40 win First Division and take home just $25,000 each

Forty Kiwis have split Lotto's First Division - the most winners ever.

Forty Kiwis have taken out Lotto First Division - the most winners in the games' 30-year-history - but they will only walk away with $25,000 each.

Wednesday night's winning numbers (3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13) were picked by people from all around the country.

The daydream of spending a million dollars is one all Kiwi's have indulged in at some stage or another, including Lotto presenter Sonia Gray, who talked to Stuff last year.

Bizarrely, it meant the five people who won second division ($27,431) walked away with a bigger prize than 38 of those who won first division.

Two of the lucky first division 40 struck it big - picking up a $2.5 million Powerball prize on top of the $25,000.

The winning Powerball tickets were sold at Countdown Hastings and New Brighton Lotto & Discounter in Christchurch.

It is second time in just one week that Powerball has been struck, with a player from Silverdale winning $7.2 million with Powerball last Wednesday.

With the prize yet to be claimed a week on from the win, Lotto NZ is urging players to check their tickets. The unclaimed $7.2 million Powerball winning ticket was purchased at Pak 'n Save Silverdale for the draw on Wednesday 12 September.

Strike Four rolled over tonight and will be $200,000 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Auckland's newest multi-millionare is yet to claim last week's winning Powerball ticket.

The $7.2m in winnings remains unclaimed following the September 12 draw. The ticket was purchased at Pak n Save Silverdale.
