A quick google on Monday for butter found a variety of prices, all fairly high.

Talk this weekend in the Stuff offices centred around the skyrocketing price of the humble block of butter.

Many social media users have shared shots butter selling for anything up to $10 a block at their local supermarkets.

We all know buying cheese can often require reworking the budget - and don’t get us started on loo paper. But are there other supermarket staples that are getting too pricey for you?
