Road Safety Week tips with Greg Murphy: drive to the conditions

There's a lot more to safe driving than simply being aware of the speed limit.
Sometimes weather or traffic conditions dictate a change to speed and/or driving style - and the tricky thing is that's is up to you to make that call.
'It's about making good decisions,' says Greg Murphy.
'That's difficult sometimes - knowing when maybe you need to slow down, knowing how to judge the conditions.

'A nice dry day on a dry road versus a really wet road on a wet day are very different. You need to adapt and change depending on what the road conditions are.'
The definition of 'conditions' can also include traffic around you.
'Make sure you give decent distance between you and the car in front of you,' says Murphy. 'Make sure that the person behind is doing the same… either by pulling over and letting them pass if they're following too close, or even accepting that you might be driving too slowly in certain situations.
'Be aware of those around you and adapt your driving to the conditions.'
