Honda's releases more details on its tiny and adorable EV

Thursday, 4 July 2019

Meet Honda's adorable city EV - the Honda e.

Honda keeps drip-feeding us new information about its utterly adorable city EV, the weirdly lower-case Honda e, making us desire it more and more, even though the chances of seeing it here are slim.

Still, it is too cool a thing to ignore just because it is destined solely for Europe (at this stage, at least), so along with a slew of new pics of the prototype that Honda says is a 'extremely close' to the final production version, the company also released a video of it in motion and a few choice snippets of information about its battery and motor.

Honda says the e's motor will produce 'approximately' 110kW of power and will have more than 300Nm of torque. Not exactly thunderous, but remember this is a tiny city car and Honda have particularly concentrated on making it as light as possible.

The Honda e will get 100kW to power its charmingly diminutive form.

It will also feature a sport mode with improved accelerator response and it will also get one pedal driving and automatic regenerative braking.

Honda revealed the e's 50:50 weight distribution last month, along with its 35.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery with a 'minimum range' of at least 200km (again, it's a city car), and the company says it will be capable of charging to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.

In May, Honda revealed that a side camera mirror system would be standard on the e and the carmaker says that it has already received 31,000 'expressions of interest' as of last month. It can currently be reserved in the UK, Germany, France, and Norway.

The production model will be revealed later this year. A price has yet to be announced, but Honda have already said that the e is very much a premium product, so don't expect it to be cheap.
