Lamborghini working on ultra-limited track-only machine

Friday, 27 March 2020

Lamborghini's motorsport division, Squadra Corse, has released a teaser video for its upcoming track-only machine.

It'll feature a highly tweaked version of Lambo's 6.5-litre V12 making around 620kW while the video shows off some of the extreme aero adorning the car.

The roof has a new intake, there's a hefty wing on the rear deck and the bonnet features two inlets and a lot of sculpted creases.

Lamborghini's racing division is working on an ultra-limited, track-only hypercar. It'll source its power from a 6.5-litre V12 with no turbos or electrical assistance.

A close-up of the rear diffuser reveals a complex new design with two exhaust outlets. We also get a glimpse of the chin, with air-scooping canards visible at the edge.

We would assume the model will be based on the aging Aventador but it could feature bespoke bodywork (aside from the aero) to set it apart from the road-going range.

Interested? Better gather your small change together now because while Lamborghini hasn't officially confirmed production numbers, rumours suggest 40 is the number.

If you want insane performance but still want to venture onto public tarmac occasionally, there are rumblings of a Huracan Super Trofeo Omologato, which is said to be a road legal version of the Huracan Super Trofeo race car. It will retain the racetrack aero as well the Huracan Evo's 47kW 5.2-litre atmospheric V10.

We'd expect production will be pushed back a bit, given Italy's current situation regarding coronavirus.
