Make your morning coffee from a Porsche engine

Porsche fans love a good coffee. I know this because that is me and that must mean the rule applies to every Porsche fan ever. Right?

In any case, if you happen to know one and have a spare $20k, this could be the best Christmas present ever. It's an espresso machine built by Super Veloce, inspired by the Porsche 993's air-cooled flat-six engine.

Only 993 RS Black Edition units will be built, with prices starting at 10,200 euros (NZ$18,146). It's essentially a black version of an earlier machine.

You can get the RS with silver trimmings or this rather epic all-black edition. But expect to pay for it.

According to the website, the Black Edition is 'a more aggressive, more masculine version that takes the regular flat-six to a whole new level.'

It's built from surgical stainless steel, aluminium, and titanium while the portions resembling the engine's cam covers are carbon fibre. The engine block gets an anodized satin black finish, and the cylinder heads are anodized bright black.

The machine weighs a hefty 21.5kg and measures 380mm long, 420mm wide and 340mm tall.

However, there's a fairly big catch. The machine uses capsules, which may mean inferior coffee as well as unnecessary waste.

But man, how good does it look? If you're interested, get ordering at the Super Veloce website. Or, alternatively, the company makes a V8 espresso machine, inspired by the bent-eight Formula 1 engines of yesteryear.
