Hollywood Junkyard: can you identify the iconic movie car parts?

Saturday, 16 May 2020

Everyone loves a good movie car, even US retail giant Walmart that came up with this brilliant commercial to promote its drive through pick-up service.

Everyone loves a good, iconic movie or TV car, but just how well do you know them?

Oh, sure, most people could tell the DeLorean time machine from the General Lee, but what about when you get down to a parts level? That takes real dedication.

Luckily UK leasing company Leasing Options has devised an interactive quiz to test just how nerdy and obsessive your knowledge of movie and TV cars actually is.

You can explore the interactive junkyard above - where Leasing Options has hidden 20 famous car parts from the biggest films and TV shows - and see if you can find all the iconic movie and TV car parts.

The aim of the game is to locate each of the 20 scattered car parts and name which film they featured in. Serious motor movie fans can also try to guess the car, plus their show name or alias.

There’s a total of 18 cars and nine aliases to spot, bringing you to 47 points in total. Be careful of getting too many incorrect answers, though – if you get three wrong, you’re out. But don’t worry, you can always try again.

Leasing options has a few hints for tracking down all the parts:

1. Search every nook and cranny for the hidden car parts. Some parts are camouflaged amongst the rubble, so make sure you click everywhere to find everything.

2. If you can remember the show but not the car or its alias (or vice versa), don’t worry. You can always input an answer and come back to the other one later.

Nope, the legendary Bullit Mustang isn't in the junkyard - it's just an awesome pic of a great car to stop you from accidentally scrolling into spoiler territory!

3. Think backwards – what famous cars do you remember from your favourite movies and TV programmes? Can you spot any of those amongst the junk?

4. Make sure to check your spelling on your answers, as typos will be flagged as incorrect.

5. You won’t get penalised for clicking around the junkyard, but you only have three wrong guesses for all the shows and car names. Don’t just guess anything! But if you do fail, you can simply try again.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

If you are having a hard time, here is a list of all the cars in the junkyard, and if you don't want to use the interactive quiz above (or can't for some weird tech-y reason), then just peruse the pic above and then scroll down past the list of answers to find a pic that has all the locations marked.
