Nissan officially confirms 400Z

It's official - the 400Z is happening. After twelve years of 370Z and about six months of constant rumours about power and price, Nissan has confirmed the Z badge is returning.
The model was teased in a new Nissan Next video that details twelve new or updated models coming in the next 18 months. Titled 'From A to Z', it starts with the production version of the Ariya and ends with the upcoming sports car.
We get a glimpse of other models like the Murano, Navara, Pathfinder, Note and Qashqai, though one hefty omission is the GT-R, which is older than the 370Z. That's a pretty good indication Nissan isn't ready to update its supercar in the next year or two. The Juke is also missing but that's because Nissan has just updated it and the video is showing off models yet to be refreshed.
Back to the new Z car, Nissan stopped short of confirming its name, so it may not be called 400Z yet. However, we'll keep saying it because it sounds good.

The 400Z looks like it will indeed feature old-school styling harking back to the 240Z, with clean lines, rounder headlights, prominent wheel arches and a swooping roofline that extends right to the bootlid. A little ducktail spoiler would really complete the look.
A few days ago, a report from AllCarNews claimed the sports car (codenamed Z35) will definitely use the 400Z badge and source its power from a turbocharged V6 making around 300kW (400hp, hence the name). Power could be turned up closer to 358kW for a range-topping 480Z while Nismo's version could even touch 500hp (372kW). A manual option has been rumoured to come alongside an automatic version as well.
Not only that but the '4' theme continues into the sticker price, which will allegedly start at US$40,000. That's just under US$10k less than the Toyota Supra starts at.
If the relationship carries over to New Zealand (assuming we'll get the new sports car), the 400Z could start at around NZ$85k. That's pure speculation though, as vehicle pricing is never as easy as simply converting one currency to another.
