Aston Martin reveals special 007 Edition models
Tuesday, 18 August 2020
Aston Martin has taken the wraps off two new special editions, celebrating the new James Bond film No Time to Die.
The British brand’s Q division has fettled with the DSB Superleggera and Vantage, with the former getting inspiration from the original Bond-spec V8 Vantage from 1987’s The Living Daylights that will be making an appearance in the latest instalment of the long-running franchise.
The standard grille has been swapped for a retro mesh unit featuring a chrome surround while the rear diffuser has yellow dashes as a reference to the hazard stripes on the rocket boosters of the original.
Additional details include Bond’s gadget panel (not functional, unfortunately) that references various Bond devices like missiles and lasers, crosshairs etched into the paddle shifters and a vented side strake. Buyers can add a specially designed ski rack and a pair of skis, like the movie car had.

AM and Q will build 100 of the special Vantages, each car to be painted in Cumberland Grey and featuring '96.60' embroidered on their sun visors, in honour of the radio frequency used by Bond in an iconic escape scene from the 1987 film.
Just 25 special DBS Superleggera will be produced, each painted in Ceramic Grey. The roof, wing mirrors, front splitter, rear diffuser and spoiler have been finished in black carbon fibre while the wheels are now 21-inch Y-spoke units. Plenty of 007 branding can be seen around the car, namely on the wings and spoiler as well as throughout the cabin.
The powertrains of both models haven’t been touched, with the Vantage’s V8 still making 375kW/685Nm and the DBS Superleggera’s twin-turbo V12 producing the same 533kW/900Nm.
Aston Martin New Zealand told Stuff that one No Time To Die DBS Superleggera will be arriving at Aston Martin Auckland later this year, but it looks like we won’t be getting any of the Vantages.
