Porsche 911 GT3 Touring arrives with all the revs and none of the wing

Thursday, 17 June 2021

All of the go with none of the show - the latest Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is here.

If you aren’t interested in turbochargers but still want a Porsche 911, there’s only one real option for you – the 911 GT3. But what if you don’t want the massive rear wing and all those vents? Well, Porsche has thought of that too – enter the Touring Package.

The 911 GT3 Touring is basically a GT3 in the clothes of a normal 911, with a few subtle changes. There’s no static rear spoiler, an automatically extending wing coming in its place, a custom grille, a silver trim around the windows and exhaust tips (black as an option), and a new GT3 Touring badge on the rear bumper as well as above the engine.

The steering wheel rim, gear/selector lever, centre console cover, armrests in the door panels and the door handles are all covered in black leather. The leather interior features black stitching and the roofliner is also black.

It looks like a normal 911 but it sure doesn’t sound like one.

Additionally, the door entry guards and trim elements on the dashboard and centre console are made of brushed black aluminium.

Carrying over from the GT3 are the staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels, vented bonnet, and screaming 4.0-litre flat-six making 374kW and 469Nm. It will be offered as both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed automatic, the latter being Porsche’s superb PDK dual-clutch transmission.

Weight is a claimed 1418kg with the manual and 1435 with the PDK.

Porsche also offers almost all the optional equipment for the 911 GT3 in combination with the Touring package. This includes all exterior and wheel colours, Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, various assist systems, the ceramic brake PCCB, all seat variants, the Chrono package and the audio systems.

In New Zealand, Porsche is offering the 911 GT3 with Touring Package at a starting price of $337,000 including GST. First deliveries are expected to begin in the first half of 2022.
