The Porsche Macan is an impressively capable vehicle – fast, comfortable and a thoroughly excellent handler, the smallest Porsche SUV is an excellent choice for someone who wants to combine the dynamic abilities of a Porsche with the practical flexibility of a medium SUV.

But you know what it’s not? That’s right; it’s NOT a boat.

But it seems that a Macan driver in the United States didn’t realise that fact recently when faced with a flooded highway in New Jersey, where the Raritan River had burst its banks next to Route 18.

With Hurricane Ida causing havoc in parts of the country, waters are rising rapidly in many places, so it is understandable if people get caught out, particularly if you aren’t sure how deep the water actually is.

But it’s pretty obvious to anyone with functioning eyes that this water was too deep, but the driver just charged on in, assuming that the Porsche SUV would, I dunno, float?

Anyway, Reddit user Deshes011 was nearby to capture all the action in its truly stupid glory, including the aftermath where we see the driver wasn’t alone in the SUV – she actually had a child in there with her…

The Macan probably isn’t in the best shape after its aquatic excursion, but I guess there is one option still open to her:
