Shelby goes electric for Sema with Mustang Mach-E
Wednesday, 3 November 2021
Sema is underway over in Las Vegas, with the usual slew of Mustang and F-150 builds. But, in what Ford describes as “a look at what could come from the legendary performance brand,” Shelby American has shown its first attempt at an electric vehicle.
The Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT Concept is wrapped in white paint with the traditional blue racing stripes and decals, with 20-inch Monobloc alloys, a new graphene-infused carbon fibre body kit, a Mustang GT350-style bonnet scoop to reduce front-end lift, and specially tuned Magneride dampers with carbon fibre springs.
Special Shelby by Recaro sports seats are inside, but it seems there aren’t any other interior modifications.
There aren’t any powertrain modifications yet but, if Ford’s other Mach-E concepts are anything to go by, Shelby won’t have much trouble extracting more kilowatts.

The Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT Concept joins another custom Mach-E, the Tjin Edition Mustang Mach-E California Route One. Aside from its massive name, the Tjin Edition gets bright orange paint with contrasting teal green accents in the headlights and badging.
Custom-built solar panels on top and down the back power a custom teal green RayVolt USA electric bicycle mounted to a Thule e-bike rack.
Underneath is a bespoke air suspension kit with a six-piston front and rear big brake kit, plus ultra-wide Falken tyres mounted to custom-painted 22-inch Vossen ML-R1 wheels.
Inside is custom white leather, Recaro seats, teal lighting and seatbelts.
The Tjin Edition probably won’t go on sale, but it’s an interesting look into how the aftermarket scene is taking to the Mustang Mach-E.
The third Mach-E at Sema is the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Mustang Mach-E GT AWD. It was designed and built by the Austin Hatcher Foundation to help families battling paediatric cancer through occupational and diversion therapy programmes.
Coming with 20-inch Rotiform wheels, Brembo brakes and adjustable Motion Control Suspension, the Austin Hatcher Foundation Mach-E will be raced at the 2022 Bonneville Speed Week with the goal of breaking 200mph (322kmh). It will be auctioned in 2023 to support the Austin Hatcher Foundation’s operations.
