Nissan X-Trail priced ahead of global debut

Wednesday, 12 October 2022

The new Nissan X-Trail is nearly here.

Nissan has confirmed local pricing and specification levels of the fourth-generation X-Trail ahead of its launch early next month.

The new X-Trail is a bit chunkier than the outgoing model, measuring 4671mm long, 1840mm wide and 1730mm high (up from 4640mm, 1820mm, and 1710mm respectively), while maintaining the same 2706mm wheelbase. Boot space is a claimed 560L with the rear seats up, a drop of 5L, but Nissan mentioned there will be removable covers in the boot which hide small divided cubbies.

Inside are Nissan's comfy zero-gravity seats for the front row with plenty of leather to look out over. An electric shifter allows for a floating-bridge centre console, while the top-spec Ti-L gets a 12.3-inch digital dash behind the steering wheel.

The new Nissan X-Trail boasts a fresh exterior and a small physical size increase.

Power will come from one engine thus far - a 2.5-litre atmospheric four cylinder paired with a CVT transmission. Don't expect fireworks here, this is a workhorse powertrain. Nissan says power has bumped up to 135kW while torque has increased to 245Nm.

A comprehensive active safety suite is included as well, spanning autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, rear cross-traffic alert with pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.

Next up is the ST-L which adds the ProPilot autonomous driving system with lane-keep assist, along with privacy glass, fog lights, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats and sliding rear seats all trimmed in synthetic leather and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Finally, the Ti-L is the flagship model, which further improves the X-Trail package with a heated steering wheel, Bose ten-speaker stereo, full Nappa leather seating with memory, rear sunshades, a hands-free tailgate, and remote engine start.

The ST and ST-L can be had in front-wheel or all-wheel drive, while the Ti-L is exclusively AWD. All-paw models get five drive modes to suit various on and off-road driving conditions.
