There's a disturbance in the Force as Nissan unveils new Star Wars cars

Tuesday, 5 December 2017

In case you've not already heard, there's a new Star Wars film on the way.

And to tie in with the worldwide release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi next week, Nissan's unveiled a raft of Star Wars themed cars.

Six of them were unveiled at the LA Auto Show and showcase different looks for vehicles such as the Nissan X-Trail, Titan, Maxima and Altima.

Nissan
Nissan's deal with Star Wars The Last Jedi has seen them letting Lucasfilm employees design their own cars. Not sure how this one would sit in a roadside park.

Though some of them are not particularly practical for on road use.

Bedecked with S-foils and lasers, the Nissan Maxima
Bedecked with S-foils and lasers, the Nissan Maxima's revamp would certainly turn heads on the roads.

Decked out in Imperial decals, with a round cockpit window for the windscreen and TIE-fighter wings for the hubcaps, the Special Forces Tie Fighter version of the Nissan Altima looks perhaps the most practical of the Nissan suite.

Perhaps a little less suited to the roads is the Nissan Maxima version of Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer with a pair of wings atop its roof as well as laser cannons.

And the Nissan Titan truck has been decked out to look like one of the AT-AT vehicles which would be as suited to the roads as it would tackling the Empire on Hoth.

Each of the cars was created by artists at Lucasfilm before being built at Vehicle Effects in California.

Unfortunately for fans and motorists, these vehicles are one of a kind and not for sale.
