Have you ever wondered what a century worth of temperature changes across the globe would look like?

Well, now you can see it for yourself with Antti Lipponen's visualisation that he uploaded to flickr.com.

The moving graph shows the temperature anomalies across the world between 1900 and 2018. And yes, New Zealand is on there.

The visualisation is based on data collected by Berkley Earth and its lead scientist Robert Rohde.

The 30 second clip shows temperatures heating up across the globe as the years tick by.

This week, New Zealand was struck by a heatwave that broke records and brought temperatures to the mid-late 30s in parts of the country.

The warm mass of air made its way across the Tasman sea from Australia, and had Kiwis flocking to beaches in droves.

Temperatures in Australia have soared well past 40 degrees Celsius for parts of the country - with Adelaide recently hitting 46.6C.

While temperatures in parts of America have plummeted, with sub-zero temperatures recorded in 22 states on Thursday.
