Auckland train services returning to schedule after death at Takanini railway crossing

Emergency services are at Taka St train station in Takanini after a person died.

A person has died at a railway crossing in the south Auckland suburb of Takanini.

A police spokesperson said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, which had been referred to the coroner.

Auckland Transport spokesman Mark Hannan confirmed an incident at a crossing on the southern line had put a halt to train services in the area.

Shortly before 8pm Auckland Transport said line clearance had now been received.

'Please expect some delays and cancellations while services return to schedule.'

Earlier services were terminating at Manukau, with the eastern and southern lines running at a 20-minute frequency.

Auckland Transport said the delays would last into the afternoon transport peak and people travelling between Puhinui and Papakura on the southern line would need to use a bus service.
