One person has died after an early morning crash in Whangārei. 

The single-car crash occurred on Otaika Valley Rd, Otaika, and one person died at the scene. 

Police were alerted to the crash between Stunnell Rd and Mulberry Ln shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

The Serious Crash Unit was investigating.
