Thursday, 10 October 2019
Prince Charles and Camilla will visit Waitangi, Christchurch and Kaikōura next month, the prime minister has revealed.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will be in New Zealand from November 17 to 23, at the invitation of the Government. It will be their third joint visit and their first in four years.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the royals would travel to the Bay of Islands, including the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, as well as Christchurch and Kaikōura.
'This will be the first time in 25 years that a member of the royal family will visit Waitangi,' Ardern said.

'They will also see the regeneration of Christchurch since the 2011 earthquake and how the community has rallied to support those affected by the March 15 terrorist attacks.'
Ardern said the royal couple would also see first-hand the effects of the 2016 earthquake in Kaikōura.
'I look forward to welcoming their Royal Highnesses back to New Zealand and hope they see as much of our beautiful country and people as possible.'
Prince Charles and Camilla previously visited New Zealand in 2015, and in 2012 to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee.
Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford also met the royals in London in April last year.
