Auckland construction disruption: Mt Eden train station to close for four years
Friday, 15 November 2019
Mt Eden railway station will close for four years, Auckland Council has announced.
The closure is part of a massive expansion of already extensive construction works in the city.
The council announced on Friday morning construction in the city centre would ramp up as the next phase of the city centre development programme got underway.
Mt Eden station was set to close from June 2020 through to 2024 to allow for underground tunnelling and a complete upgrade of the station, it said.

Meanwhile, construction on the City Rail Link (CRL) would continue to cause further road closures, according to CRL chief executive Sean Sweeney,
'The works along Albert Street between Wyndham and Wellesley streets will be the first of a number of significant construction activities, so Aucklanders will need to be prepared and flexible as the CRL progresses,' he said in a statement.
In the new year, construction on the City Rail Link's tunnels and the new Aotea and Karangahape stations would accelerate.
There were also multiple 'long-term road closures, partial closures and diversions' planned around Wellesley, Victoria and Pitt Sts, along with Beresford Square, though Wellesley and Victoria Sts would not close simultaneously, the council said.
