Tramper found after search and rescue team called out in rural Otago

A tramper has been found in remote Otago after a search and rescue team was called out.
A police spokeswoman said the tramper was supposed to return from the Hopkins Valley, near Lake Ohau in the Waitaki district, about two days ago, but had not by Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were alerted about 10am on Wednesday.
He was found about 1pm with 'no issues', the spokeswoman said.

No further information was yet available, due to the lack of communication at the scene.
Police were walking up the valley track to search a hut in the area.
The valley is in the McKenzie high country, near the boundary of Canterbury and Otago.
MetService has forecast heavy rain, thunderstorms and snow for the area on Wednesday.
The tramper was initially reported to be missing near Mt Aspiring, but was later clarified as being in Hopkins Valley.
