Person dead after drowning in Christchurch

A person has died after a drowning incident in Christchurch.

Police were called to an address on Valecrest Ave, Parklands about 4.30pm on Sunday, a spokeswoman said.

One person was taken to hospital in a critical condition, but later died.

The death was not suspicious and had been referred to the coroner, the spokeswoman said.

Police would not release any further details, including the age or gender of the person who died.

There are no public pools on street, just residential homes.
