The body of a missing swimmer has been found in Bream Bay, near Waipu in Northland.
Emergency services scoured the area for them for about two hours on Christmas Day after they were reported missing at about 10am.
The person had gotten into difficulty while swimming in the bay, a police media spokeswoman said.
'Police Search and Rescue, Coastguard, a rescue helicopter and Ruakaka Surf Club lifeguards took part in the search operation, however, the body of the swimmer was located around midday in the water,' she said.
'A local Kaumatua will attend to bless the scene.'
