Tuesday, 1 September 2020
A kayak has been found in the search for a man who hasn’t been seen since he went fishing two days ago.
The man was reported missing on Monday morning following his fishing trip on Sunday afternoon and officers have been searching for him since.
He is believed to have gone out in a kayak, alone, near Duder Park in south Auckland’s Clevedon, and never made it back to land.
A police spokesman said: “We located a kayak in the water during our search efforts and police strongly believe it is the kayak the man used to go fishing.

The search area has since been expanded, with the police maritime unit also involved. Land searches are also ongoing.
The spokesman said there were concerns for the man, and officers were in touch with his family.
Coastguard NZ is also working to locate him.
The organisation has been contacted for comment.
