Four stabbings over two days during New Year period in Wellington

Three people were stabbed in the stomach and another in the face during the New Year period in Wellington.
About five minutes after midnight on New Year’s Day, an altercation broke out between two groups on the waterfront near Te Papa, following a fireworks display at Frank Kitts Park.
Two men were stabbed in the stomach.
A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said two patients, one in a serious condition and another moderately injured, were transported to Wellington Hospital.
Police said a third person was also assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

Police have spoken to a number of witnesses, but no arrests have been made.
Mai Pham, who attended the fireworks display, shot a video of multiple emergency services vehicles on Cable Street.
“First I saw an ambulance, then endless police cars kept coming around and a fire engine, I thought something must've been wrong … we felt dangerous being at the scene,” she said.
Detective Sergeant Stephen Wescott said police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident, or people running from the scene.
A group of three or four offenders are believed to have been involved, one male wearing a green puffer jacket with short, dark, bushy hair that was slicked back at the top and two or three females.
Nearby, less than two hours later at about 1.30am, a man was allegedly stabbed in the stomach, in the New World carpark on Chaffers St.
A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said one patient was transported to Wellington Hospital in a moderate condition.
A 24-year-old woman has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is expected to reappear in the Wellington District Court on January 18.
The next day at 3.30pm on January 2, a man was dropped off at Wellington Hospital’s emergency department in a serious condition, with stab wounds to the face.
Stuff understands the man, who has gang connections, was stabbed at his home address in Newtown before being dropped at the hospital.
The man was taken there in a dark-coloured Honda Accord station wagon, and police wish to speak to the driver.
No one has been charged.
A Capital and Coast District Health Board spokesman said the man is now in a stable condition.
