Police investigating reports of shots being fire at Invercargill houses

Police are investigating reports of two houses in Invercargill being shot at late last week.
Police, on Sunday, confirmed the two incidents they are investigating include a house in the suburb of Kew that was shot at about 12.40am on February 11; and another house in Glengarry about 1am on February 12.
A police spokesperson said in both cases there were no injuries.

At this stage the two incidents are believed to involve the same limited group of individuals and there was no reason to believe there was any risk to the wider public.
Police are investigating and additional staff are in the area while inquiries are carried out.

A week ago the AOS was called to the Glengarry Tavern after a firearm was allegedly pulled out in public during a gang scuffle.
Mangu Tamatea, 22, of Palmerston North, (who has multiple Black Power tattoos on his face) later appeared in the Invercargill District Court, charged with possessing a shotgun, presenting it at a man and being armed with a gun entering the tavern with the intent to commit an imprisonable offence.
He was remanded to reappear on March 2.
Tre Moerua-Awhitu, 21, of Christchurch, also appeared on a charge of possessing eight rounds of .22 ammunition and a charge of presenting a shotgun at a man. He was also remanded to reappear on March 2.
