Police seek witnesses to serious assault in Wellington's CBD

Police are seeking witnesses to a serious assault in Wellington’s CBD early on Saturday morning.

Police said they were alerted to two groups of people fighting on Courtenay Place, outside McDonald’s, about 2.45am.

One man was taken to Wellington Hospital with serious injuries.

A police spokeswoman said on Saturday afternoon the man’s condition had since improved, and his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police inquiries were ongoing, and they would like to hear from anyone who has video footage or images of the incident.
